so i know i'm skipping around a bunch, but frankly i don't care! i had an awesome opportunity today to take a picture or two of "something old," so of course i took it! here are the lovely pictures that resulted:

these are books from the 1870s, and they're so old to me! one of them had a newspaper clipping in it with times for the train....isn't that so cool to think that someone, somewhere in 1876 was looking at that same newspaper so they could catch a train. weird!!!

well, my assignment today was to show you where i sleep! my room is still in the works though, so my bed isn't exactly how i wanted it to be. here's the picture:

hi everyone! so today's prompt was "in my bag" (duh!), so i chose a purse of mine to dig through. so, here's a look into my bag:

well, today was surprisingly hard because there weren't a lot of things that i could take at a distance with an unobstructed view, but i shot a picture that is at like a 4 foot distance, and that's pretty far for me. i'm the kind of person who likes to get up close to their subject. here's the shot:

today's challenge sounded fun a few nights before, but it wasn't as fun today when i realized i was waaaay to busy to make what i was thinking of making for today's prompt. so i opted for something a bit less time consuming but just as frustrating. check out my results below:

these are from my tortuous attempt at newspaper nails! i'd been wanting to try these for soo long and i just now got around to it. they're a bit messy because i was totally done with them once i got the newspaper print on. they're actually pretty easy, i just messed up like 5 times. if you'd like to know how to do these, just comment and i'd love to enlighten you!

okay, this was a really hard topic because it's so vague! i wasn't sure what it meant, but i decided to make it something new to me. this is a picture of a makeup palette that i received for christmas.

this is actually a picture i took today that means a lot to me. i was a ballet dancer for 10 years and dropped the activity a little while ago because i didn't have enough time.  i was incredibly passionate about dancing, and sometimes i question if the decision to drop ballet was a good idea. so, for the picture:

can i start off by saying that this was really, really hard considering that i've got like ten favorite colors?! i decided on an orchid purple, though, since it was the first color to pop into my head and i really do love the color.

i think it turned out pretty well. the surprising thing was that i wasn't even on macro...huh. hopefully tomorrow's assignment is easier.

so, today i ran into a roadblock. my topic today was clouds, but there was one problem: we had none. now, usually we can find a couple of clouds in the sky but today there were zero. nada. zip. goose eggs. however, i felt guilty switching the topic, so i shot pictures of clouds anyways. ta-da!:

this is quite possibly the worst picture i've taken in months. alas, i felt like i needed to post something related to clouds. hopefully no one sees this. off to homework i go!

jan 1, 2012; day 1: a self-portrait.

so today, while i was attempting to take some kind of good self-portrait, i played with the eye-dea (haha!) of doing a portrait of my eyes...after all, that's part of me! i wasn't sure if i should do that or a regular self portrait, so i took two and decided to share them both with you!

these weren't enhanced or edited in any way...a self portrait is supposed to be a picture of you, not an overly photoshopped face!

frankly, i have no clue what i'm getting myself into with this picture-a-day thing. wish me luck!
